Sumter Rotary Talks June 2026

Sharing Hidden Wounds Village - Alpha Mission with Sumter "Gamecock" Rotary Club

VAlanthropy recently had the opportunity to meet with members of the Sumter Rotary Club and share the vision behind Hidden Wounds Village Alpha, our flagship veteran housing initiative in Sumter, South Carolina.

The meeting gave our team the chance to talk about the need for permanent, affordable housing for veterans and explain how Hidden Wounds Village Alpha is being developed to support more than housing alone. The community is designed to combine stable housing with trauma-informed support, employment transition resources, community reintegration opportunities, and long-term outcome tracking.

Just as important, the conversation focused on the role local civic leaders can play in helping strong community initiatives move forward.

Organizations like Rotary bring together business leaders, professionals, veterans, educators, and community advocates who understand the value of service and local involvement. Support does not always begin with a financial contribution. It can begin with a conversation, an introduction, a shared idea, a volunteer opportunity, or simply helping more people understand the need.

That is why meetings like this matter.

Every new relationship strengthens the network surrounding Hidden Wounds Village Alpha and creates another opportunity for Sumter residents, businesses, and civic organizations to be part of a long-term solution for veterans.

We appreciate the Sumter Rotary Club for welcoming Fred Altman and Tom Lash, listening to VAlanthropy’s mission, and allowing us to share how this community can help create greater stability and opportunity for veterans.

VAlanthropy looks forward to continuing conversations throughout Sumter and building partnerships with people and organizations committed to making a meaningful difference.
